Meet Lauren Williams: Health and Fitness Guru & the Brain Behind Indubitable Fitness!

Lauren Williams: Indubitable Fitness, Fitspo & Health Guru. A great site for workouts and healthy recipes! Hiiii loves. It’s been awhile, but I’m back from my little blogging break (consisting mostly of classes, tests, term papers, AND re-branding BS) and I have something really freakin’ great for y’all today.

Lauren Williams: Fitspo, Fitspo, Fitspo!

Y’all know I love to feature my friends on ROAWO, sooooo meet my girl Lauren. She’s a health & fitness guru, a beach body coach, and the brain behind her brand: Indubitable Fitness.

Here we go:

◊ Introduce Yourself: Hey everyone! My name is Lauren Williams and I am a health & fitness coach! Indubitable Fitness is my online site where I blog about healthy recipes, fitness tips, inspirational posts, and where I lead my online fitness challenge groups! I’m from Fort Worth, TX (<< my hometown too!) and I’m attending TCU to get a Kinesiology-Health & Fitness degree. I’m a mover and a shaker.. If anything gets lost in the day for me it’s sleep, because I have a million things to do and you better believe I am going to do them all (ok, and sometimes school gets lost too)! Oh and I’m totally horse crazy. I competitively show hunter jumping horses and I have a fabulous horse named The Big Dog (aka Cujo).

Meet Lauren Williams: Beach Body Coach and Health Guru

◊ What inspired you to start your fitness journey? My freshman year of  highschool, my habits of eating krispy kremes and not working out caught up to me really quickly. After some teasing at school, my mom telling me to put down the cheetos one too many times, and just becoming fed up with the person that I saw in the mirror, I realized that I had to do something to fix this.  I was blessed in that I got a personal trainer who taught me all about food and nutrition and pushed me, even when I tried to put on the brakes, thinking I couldn’t go on in the workout. Becoming healthy and fit drastically changed my life. It took me from being sedentary, unhealthy, and miserable to constantly active, confident, and loving life every day. I now want to pass this wellness onto everyone that I can.

◊ How do you stay motivated to maintain a healthy lifestyle? Consistency is the key that I have found for success. I led an unhealthy lifestyle before and the way that I felt back then is a way that I never want to feel again. Working out and feeding my body right makes me feel confident, energetic, happy, and alive every day! I love life and I love to explore.. Working out can be fun if you mix it up! I always am finding new adventures to go on, like paddleboarding on the river, going trail running at a state park, or going biking with friends! My online support groups holds me accountable for being my best and not falling off the bandwagon (<< this is what ROAWO does for me!). As a coach, I know that I have to give 110% in order to inspire others and motivate others to make changes and that pushes me on every day.

◊ As a Beach Body coach, what is your main goal? I want to change the way that people think about nutrition & exercise, and more importantly, the way that they think about themselves & their potential! I want to help others reach their health & fitness goals and help them to look and feel their best. There are so many “quick fixes” out there these days, like diet pills and starvation diet plans. The fact of the matter is: those just will not hold up your weight loss or give you the mental benefits that proper nutrition and exercise will (<< Amen, sista) . There is no quick fix to a lifestyle that pays HUGE rewards to those willing to put in the work. I provide people with a fitness & nutrition program tailored to their needs, access to my online support group, and free coaching from me to put them on the path to success! (<< y’all, seriously check it out… FREE coaching)

Lauren Williams: Indubitable Fitness, Fitspo & Health Guru. A great site for workouts and healthy recipes!

◊ What has been the most effective way to transform your body and build lean, sexy muscle? Don’t be afraid of the weight room!! Weights are SO important in building lean muscle mass and lifting weights will not make you get huge like a boy… that just won’t happen. Another important exercise component is HIIT training. HIIT is the quickest way to burn fat while gaining lean muscle! It combines short, high intensity intervals with longer, low intensity intervals so that your body is constantly kept guessing and never “plateaus” on burning calories! You must remember to never give up… Muscle weighs more than fat, so sometimes, even when the scale isn’t changing, your body is! Give it time and continue working your muscles, I promise that you will love the results!!

◊ So, you’ve got 30 minutes to work out and you can’t make it to the gym. What’s a quick exercise that you can do at home? I would typically pop in a workout DVD because the workouts are only 30 minutes long–so doable! But, if not, I’ll do something like this: 30 seconds each 3x through & rest 10 seconds between exercises: mountain climbers, chair tricep dips, high knees, squats, planks, pushups, jumping jacks, burpees, alternating jump lunges, wall squat—GO!

◊ Who are your favorite social media/ blogger fitness gurus? Kim Danger: She has all sorts of goodies awesome snack ideas, healthy recipes, etc. and she’s just real!! I love that. Fitfluential has tons of awesome workout ideas and recipes & Skinny Taste has all the healthy recipes you could ever want.

Lauren Williams: Indubitable Fitness, Fitspo & Health Guru. A great site for workouts and healthy recipes! ◊ Give us the details on your daily diet: In general, I try to stick to lean proteins, veggies, fruit, and some complex carbs. Here is a specific idea of my day: Breakfast: Shakeology!–I am so in love with this stuff. I’m super skeptical of so many protein shakes, but what I love about ShakeO is it’s a super-nutrient dense nutritional shake that fills in the gaps of our nutritional intake! It curbs cravings, regulates the body, and increases energy! Snack-Apple & Peanut butter. Lunch-Low sodium turkey, avocado, swiss cheese, spinach & mustard on Ezekial bread wrap. Snack-Greek Yogurt with strawberries. Dinner-Grilled Chicken, broccoli, & squash It is important to eat every 2-3 hours to keep your metabolism revved up! Here is an example of my weekly meal plan.

◊ What is your favorite Indubitable-Fitness-approved recipe? This warm chicken & quinoa salad with pears & feta is definitely one of my best meals! 100% clean, easy, and AMAZING.

◊ Give ONE tip to those starting their journey in pursuit of a healthier lifestyle: Believe in yourself, trust the process, and never give up! Fitness is not an easy journey, but the rewards are endless. Fitness is truly a lifestyle! Change your mindset, improve your eating and exercise habits, and find a support system that will aid you on your journey. Don’t give up on yourself!!!

Lauren Williams: Indubitable Fitness, Fitspo & Health Guru. A great site for workouts and healthy recipes! Sarah Mecke: Serendipity Fine Lines & Such

Sarah Mecke of Serendipity Fine Lines & Such :: A little interview with this creative spirit Sarah Mecke of Serendipity Fine Lines & Such :: A little interview with this creative spirit So, remember when I said I have some pretty awesome & inspirational friends?  Well, today y’all get to meet Sarah Mecke. Sarah has been a friend/teammate/classmate of mine since our awkward middle school days and has always had a passion for being all artsy-fartsy. Now, she is the owner and creative mind behind her online company Serendipity Fine Lines & Such. Like I’ve said a million times, I am so obsessed with people who manage to monetize their passions, creating a sort of “job” for themselves, instead of being forced into something they don’t absolutely love. Because, what fun is that? So, meet Sarah.

Sarah Mecke of Serendipity Fine Lines & Such :: A little interview with this creative spirit » Introduce Yourself:

Hello, lovelies! My name is Sarah and I am pursuing a life full of authenticity and sparkle… at least that is what my Instagram bio says. I started my design shop to bring what I believe are beautiful and inspiring hand-lettered prints and stationary to cool and creative people.

» I remember you being all calligraphy-crazed back in high school, but when exactly did you start developing an interest in it?

I have always gotten all “geeked” out when it comes to pretty penmanship and all that jazz. Ever since we learned cursive in the second grade, I have been drawn to perfecting my handwriting. I think I am a little OCD with it, but hey now its turned into a really fun creative outlet, so c’ est la vie!

Sarah Mecke of Serendipity Fine Lines & Such :: A little interview with this creative spirit » Tell us allll about Serendipity Fine Lines !!

I actually got the idea for Serendipity Fine Lines while I was standing in a craft store. (Payton knows the depth of my love for places like this… I think I have collectively spent a fortune at Hobby Lobby). I was looking at some notebooks with what I felt was somewhat fugly writing on the cover, when I had the idea that I should create my own line of paper products. I started designing some proofs around June, and I sort of got carried away with it! Honestly, I had no idea what this little idea was going to turn into and I literally never imagined I would be shipping my paper products all over the place (like Australia!) I have my products on Etsy… if you haven’t been on this site yet, you are going to be hooked. You can find all sorts of gems designed by small business owners from all over the world.

» Where tf do you find your inspo & how do you stay creative?

I have a semi-stalkerish relationship with creatives in the same area of business as myself. I love to see how others are using their creativity to pursue their dreams. I get most of my inspiration from following the Instagrams of people such as B is for Bonnie (@bonniejoymarie), Miss Poppy Design (@misspoppydesign) and Mackenzie Horan (@mackenziehoran). Oh and an unhealthy addiction to Pinterest… I’m such a girl.

» What are some of your favorite pieces on sale on the site right now?

I love this 5x7in print with a quote from the lovely Mindy Kaling, “Sometimes you just have to put on some lip gloss and pretend to be psyched.” I find this quote to be so sassy and feminine. I have it framed on my vanity so I see it every time I put on my make up and it makes me think, “Eff yeah! Lip gloss solves everything!” I’m only sort of kidding.

Sarah Mecke of Serendipity Fine Lines & Such :: A little interview with this creative spirit [ I had Sarah make me a cutie print :: Isn’t this Madonna quote the absolute best? ]

» So, you’re a full-time student, member of a sorority (T-shirt design chair, even! No shock there), volunteer at Cook Children’s Hospital (what a saint), and you own a new & successful online business. What’s your secret to organizing such a busy life?

I truly love what I do so it isn’t hard to stay motivated. The things I do get me so excited. My favorite way to keep my crazy schedule in order is my May Book agenda. I carry it everywhere with me so I don’t let myself forget what I’m trying to accomplish that day. I believe in thinking on a week-to-week basis so I don’t feel too overwhelmed. If I find that I’m beginning to mentally melt, I take things down to one day at a time, then even one hour at a time. This helps me stay focused and level headed. That and a prescription for Vyvanse.

Sarah Mecke of Serendipity Fine Lines & Such :: A little interview with this creative spirit » Speaking of busy life, what do you do to relax / rejuvenate after conquering your (I can imagine lengthy) to-do list?

I am almost embarrassed to admit this, but I love to marathon-watch Family Guy on Netflix. I think it is hilarious and just the right amount of brain-numbing stupid that makes my mind relax. Also, I find that I always feel better after play with my dogs outside for a bit. (<<< y’all know I love dog people)

» Lastly, what is your FAV health/fitness/beauty tip for us?

Always be your self… Unless you can be Beyoncé. On the real though, having a healthy attitude about yourself by accepting everything you are and everything you are not will make a world of difference in your life. When you treat yourself with respect mentally, you in turn want to do more good things for yourself like eating clean, sweating it out in the gym regularly and getting some zzz’s. I promise you will be an overall healthier person with added hustle and sparkle when you start with your internal attitude.

My good friend and executive graphic designer of ROAWO, Emily Fillmore, is quite the badass. This girl has an eye for artistry.. and can visualize and create the most amazing drawings, graphics, and photographs. I never cease to be amazed by her natural talent for design.

[When did you first start creating your own handbags?] I first opened my shop 1 year ago this month. It was a project I had brewing for many months and finally took the leap of faith May 2013.

[When did you decide to create your own company? How did you do it? Was is easier or harder than you anticipated?] I really wanted a creative outlet that would challenge my mind as well as test my leadership skills. I first started by doing a lot of research about how I wanted to sell, what I would need to launch, who are my customers, what will the brand story be, etc. It was not hard to launch because I love getting things off the ground. That said, some days are incredibly hard and challenging while others are very fluid. Being extremely conscious of my time and schedule helps me sustain.

[Does your workspace effect how you work? What setting do you like to create in?] Moving the workshop out of my house and into the studio at preFAB was one of the best decisions. It allows me the chance to collaborate with other makers, receive mentoring from Brian, the founder of preFAB and have a beautiful showroom for my customers to visit and shop from.

[What is your favorite bag?] Hands down, the Cabra Clutch. I love fur and this fur we found from a wonderful leather shop we formed a relationship with in our last trip to Barcelona. We, my husband and I, purchase a lot of the leather from Barcelona. It is a city near and dear to our hearts. To help the local businesses there is equally important to us as well as the local San Diego businesses.

[What is your most popular bag?] There are two in the running for most popular- The Adelina Fringe Clutch & The Tie-Dye Leather Clutch.

[Owning a business has got to be stressful, what is your best health/wellness tip that you can share with readers?] I am asked this question all the time. My answer is always, “I’m very busy, but I’m not stressed.” There is a difference. Time management and knowing your limits is the best advice I can give anyone who wants to explore a goal that is going to push them to the next level. I also train martial arts. No matter what my work schedule is, I always make it to class 3-4 times per week. We all need a place to unwind, to release. Having an incredibly supporting husband helps as well. He keeps me focused, challenges me to ask more of myself and my skills and reminds me to rest and enjoy life.

[Any advice for young women entering the workforce and/or not knowing what exactly they want to do?] Yes. Try everything. I’ve done one million things with my life and I’m only 33. I’ve studied so much and never thought I’d be doing what I’m doing now. Don’t limit yourself to one job or path. Try one path at a time and explore all of your interests. Life is a great opportunity to experience many jobs, develop many skillsets and chase a few dreams.
