Brown Sugar Baked Peaches :: A Skinny Dessert

Baked Peaches : A Skinny Dessert // ROAWO finally got around to making these little peach concoctions ( ran across the recipe on Pinterest forever ago ) the other day, and let me tell you, they were so much better than I expected. I mean, they look amazing, so let the fact that they were BETTER than they look be a little hint that you need these in your life. AND They’re only about 100 Calories a piece !! Best day ever.

I took it upon myself to add this ice-cream ( which I changed to more of a glaze… kinda accidentally… *whoops* ) to the original recipe, because I’m just a genius, basically. I actually liked the glaze better than the whole ice-cream idea, but do what ya feel, my friends.

Baked Peaches : A Skinny Dessert // ROAWO

So, basically, heres what you need for the peaches:

A Whole, Organic Peach

1 Tsp Organic Butter ( read why I always use organic here )

2-4 Tsp Brown Sugar

& what you need for the 3-ingredient glaze / ice-cream ( per my modifications ):

2 Ripe Bananas

A little Vanilla Almond Milk

A little Cinnamon

Baked Peaches : A Skinny Dessert // ROAWO How To Make The Baked Peaches ::

First, Preheat the oven to 375 °. Cut the peach in half & remove the pit. Place about 1/2 tsp of butter in the middle of each peach-half & top with brown sugar ( the amount of brown sugar is really just a personal preference.. I used about 2 teaspoons per half ). Sprinkle with a little cinnamon. Place in the baking dish / on the baking pan skin-side down. Then, bake for 30 minutes, or until peach is tender.

Baked Peaches : A Skinny Dessert // ROAWO How to make the glaze ::

Cut / peel the bananas & place in the freezer until frozen. Place frozen banana pieces, a small amount of almond milk ( use less for an ice-cream consistency & more for a glaze-consistency… just eye-ball it ) & a dash of cinnamon in a blender and blend until combined. Pour over the peaches, & enjoy !!

Baked Peaches : A Skinny Dessert // ROAWO These are beyond-amazing served warm. ESP with the creamy, banana / almond glaze. Baked peaches are such a great dessert alternative for those of you who NEED to satisfy your sweet tooth ( AKA ME ) & attempt to stay healthy in the process.

I mean, they’re hardly short of life-changing.

A Few of my Favorite Things + A Little Promo Code Surprise !!

A Few of my Favorite Things // ROAWO Another favorites post is finally here! Every once-in-awhile I like to share a few of the little things that make me happy, happy, happy. These little parts of my every-day life ( most days ) either make me feel like I’ve really got my shit together / they look pretty and/or they make me a cool, calm, and collected human ( <<< necessary ).

So here’s my most recent collection of simple, every-day favorites:

Healthy Breakfast // A Few of My Favorite Things // ROAWO 1. A Healthy, Homemade Breakfast: I LOVE starting my day with a well-sized, healthy breakfast. For some reason, it just makes me feel clean & organized which is the BEST way to start the day. There’s just something about the good, clean energy that getting up and cooking some bfast gives you… plus it makes my house smell nice and home-y.

Usually, I’ll have something like this :: A mixture of whole-eggs / egg whites with avocado & my homemade salsa on top, blueberries, a glass of green tea, & a big glass of lemon water.

You Musn't Be Afraid to Sparkle a Little Brighter, Darling // A Few of my Favorite Things // ROAWO A Few of my Favorite Things // ROAWO 2. Daily Inspo Quotes: I am obsessed with words ( probably why I’ve loved every literature class I’ve ever taken )… like really, really obsessed with them. I mean, my Quote Board on Pinterest is ridiculously lengthy ( around 2,500 quotes pinned to date ).

I think what I like the most is how I can read how someone ELSE puts words together and think “wow, that’s EXACTLY how I feel / think!” Because, sometimes, its hard for me to do that myself.  I think its kind of hard for all of us at times… thats what can make communicating so difficult. Communication is SO complex ( << obviously, you can tell I’m really interested in this topic ).

Anyways, so back to my framed inspo: this is the easiest way for me to remind myself every day to be happy / stay inspired. Okay, so the second quote I have pictured is a little aggressive / extreme, but whatever. We all get in those moods where we need a little bit of that. I like to print out my favorite quotes, frame them, and put them around my room for a daily dose of badass-ary.

Fresh Flowers // A Few of My Favorite Things // ROAWO Fresh Flowers // A Few of My Favorite Things // ROAWO 3. Fresh Flowers: They always say every room needs something alive to make it feel right. Enter: flowers. This is SUCH an easy way to brighten up your home. I mean, when is the last time a freshly-cut flower bouquet / plant has ever stressed you out? Pretty much never. Though I’m just a college-kid on a college-budget, I try to pick up some flowers whenever I see some that I must have.

Grocery-store flowers are good ( cheap ) enough for me.

Laptop Skin // Society 6 // ROAWO 4. This “Wanderlust” Laptop Skin from Society6.com: So, if you’ve kept up / ever read ROAWO before, you know I like to travel as much as possible. Obviously, this laptop extra is perfffect for me. I’m kind of in love with it. Plus, I’ve gotten so many compliments, so obviously, its da-bomb.com.

Also, Society6 is one of my FAV online shops for stuff like tech skins / prints / iPhone cases / etc. There are so many options, so theres something for everyone.

Louboutins // A Few of my Favorite Things // ROAWO Louboutins // A Few of my Favorite Things // ROAWO 5. These Christian Louboutin Wooden-Heel Leather Platforms: I mean, can we have a moment of silence for these? I’m known to splurge occasionally on some of my must-have items ( sparingly, of course ) & these were seriously so worth it ( I found a similar pair on eBay here << such a steal ).

But, exactly as expected :: I haven’t worn them yet because I’m too scared to scratch them up / get them dirty. You might be thinking “then whats the point of…” I get it, okay. I’m a crazy freak. I also always get the bottom-protector put on these types of shoes as well :: I don’t like when the red gets all scratchy.. OCD.

Metallic Tats // A Few of My Favorite Things // ROAWO 6. MetallicTats: I am seriously into this trend. First off, I don’t really like wearing a ton of bracelets, because I feel like they just get in my way. So, these are perfect for me. These jewelry-inspired temporary tattoos stay on for 4-6 days and look so, so badass.

MetallicTat is the brand I’m currently working with & I LOVE them! MetallicTat is owned by Leandra Simmons out of Encinitas, CA ( << one of my favorite places ever ) and her designs are fun, unique, and perfect for festivals / parties / a night out / or whatever else.

** The Super exciting part:: Visit MetallicTat on Etsy ( link above ) and use the promo code ROAWO10 at checkout to receive 10% off your order !! **

( I’ve already featured this little bull-skull metallic tattoo here. )

My German Shepherd // A Few of My Favorite Things // ROAWO My German Shepherd // A Few of My Favorite Things // ROAWO 7. My Most Favorite Thing… My German Shep, Drogo: He completes my life, pretty much. Who needs a boyfriend ( or even friends… k no, thats dramatic) when you have the most perfect / sweetest cuddle-bud ever? Most of my day consists of: feeding Drogo / walking Drogo / talking to Drogo like he’s a human & like he’s going to answer me. I have long, sometimes funny, convos with my pup.. like a crazy-dog lady ( yes, he’s not even a real adult-dog yet.. an 80-pound beebus <<< my coined term for “baby” ). Maybe he wants to hear about my day, okay?

But actually, having a dog means someone(thing) will literally think that you are the best person / thing that has ever existed. Ever. You can’t NOT love that. Plus, despite his I-could-eat-you-whole appearance, Drogo is the sweetest & most playful dog ever. Best friends fo life.

So thats it for for now. I’m finally starting to create a posting schedule ( for the last week, I’ve posted almost every day ). Now, I’m going to try to stick to Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

I also wanted to take a sec to thank everyone who has given me such amazing / encouraging feedback about ROAWO. I originally started this whole thing as material for internships and I have gotten SO much more from it:: discounts, promos, & collabs ( <<< so fun, contact me for info @ ramblingsofawildone@yahoo.com ) / connections with people who enjoy the same things that I do / further knowledge in the subjects I’m interested in / a creative outlet to fill my time / etc.

So thanks to everyone who has been soooo cool about it. I really appreciate it. Really.

Shop Spotlight: Sirena Water Wear in Port Aransas, Texas

Sirena Water Wear in Port Aransas, Texas During my mini-getaway to Port Aransas, Texas, I came across a little boutique called Sirena Water Wear.

Sun Bum Sunscreen from Sirena Water Wear One of the owners, Tracy Davis, talked to me for awhile about the line of women’s board shorts that her and her best friend, Kim Rucker, developed called SeaLegs. These quick-dry, tailored boyfriend shorts were first developed as stain-proof fishing shorts to wear “from the fishing rod to the restaurant.” Pretty cool, huh?

Basically, they created what they wanted because they couldn’t find it anywhere else. Thats the entrepreneurial spirit!

Here’s a leetle interview to get y’all well acquainted with one half of the brain behind SeaLegs and the lady behind the badA storefront.

ROAWO:: Sirena Water Wear in Port A, Texas [Tell me a little about yourself and your brand] I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where I developed a love of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Italian food, skiing and spent most of my time in [the] swimming pool. [I] swam competitive long distance. My love for skiing, swimming, running, and offshore fishing probably led me to want to develop “hybrid” athletic apparel that could be functional and fashionable. I was always jealous of the guys who could go straight from the boat or beach to the bar in the same pair of pants. Fishing & hunting apparel for women is decades behind surf, skiing and golf apparel so we set out to change that. I studied Nutritional Sciences and obtained a Masters of Science in Nutrition/Food Science and became a Registered Dietitian.  I started my career working with dialysis patients then began a rigorous corporate career and 15 years of travel in sales and sales management for medical companies. Through my career I learned a lot about launching and promoting new products.

[Tell me about your store] Sirena translates into mermaid in 5 languages. We wanted a name that portrayed our obsession with all things water and that would welcome men, women, and children into our shop. We carry anything mermaid and water related including spearfishing guns, men’s fishing apparel, fishing lures, women’s beach cover ups, board shorts, and locally crafted mermaid jewelry.  Over 80% of our products are American Made or Fair Trade.  High quality and craftsmanship is a common theme throughout our shop.  The décor is dark & eclectic yet welcoming, and reminds me of an underwater cavern.

Fridaze from Sirena Water Wear

Fridaze Linen Apparel:: I love the white linen cover-up on the far left!

[Running a business must be so stressful, what is your favorite health/wellness tip(s) to staying sane?] Mermaid Cocktails.  Just kidding.  3 of us ladies jog together or do garage insanity before we start our days. Sometimes its intense and other times its a gab session where we vent and get advice. One friend is an artist/real estate agent and the other owns The Cypress Tree boutique in town so they always give me inspiration and energy, and good parenting advice.  I also try to go on an occasional jog, swim or surf with my boyfriend. This weekend I signed up for a ladies surf camp.

[What advice do you have for girls (or boys) that are in the same shoes you were in when you were college-aged?] Focus on a 3 – 5 year goal.  Odds are that in 10 or 15 years you will be doing something completely different anyway so don’t look at your college career decisions as life long commitments.  Make a decision on what to study and make sure that it gives you some sort of edge over your competition. Get a certification or license that puts you in demand and you will never have to worry about being out of work. Don’t over think it, instead invest your time and energy on completing your goal.

Sirena Water Wear on RamblingsofaWildOne.com My FAVORITE product that the store offers is the Sun Bum Sunscreen, because it is all natural and just looks cool [I’m exactly the type of idiot that the marketing people design for… I’ll buy (almost) anything that is packaged nicely]. Also, I’m allergic to most sunscreens, but not this one! Always a plus.

You can follow Sirena Water Wear on Instagram [@ilovesealegs], Twitter [@SirenaWaterWear], Pinterest, and Facebook.

Keep on keepin’ on peeps.
